Happy N7 Day!

While I was just introduced to the Mass Effect trilogy this year, I still wanted to contribute to the celebration going on on Twitter.

All these “cinematic universes” aren’t doing as well as Marvel is because everyone wants to have an Avengers but no one wants to make an Iron Man

What does this mean

It means other cinematic universes are busy trying to play catch up to Marvel by rushing the fuck out of their movies. Prime example would be DC; they leaped into batman vs superman and justice league without really establishing most of their characters. They just lumped them all in JL - with no origin story films for the majority of the main characters.
The reason Marvel has done so exceptionally well is because they BUILT UP their universe, beginning with the first Iron Man film. Iron Man 1 took the time to really flesh out Tony Stark - to create a character the audience can relate to - and do his origin story justice. And the universe built itself up (and continues to expand itself) from there. Marvel really took the time to establish and flesh out their characters and their individual stories before bringing them all together in the Avengers. The fans KNOW the characters. That’s why it works. DC, on the other hand, just rushed everything. They didn’t take the time to make their “iron man” movie; to build up their universe. Iron Man was pivotal in the MCU because it SET UP the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
